Best Season to Elope in Austin, TX

The summers in Austin are long and hot, and the winters are rather short but can be really cold and windy. May offers great temperatures, however, May brings the heaviest rainfall, so you might want to avoid this month! Summer months are really hot in Austin, and normally, so are September and October, so it might not be the most ideal for your Austin elopement.

So, which are the best months for you to elope in Austin? March and April are great months when it’s not yet too hot, perfect for your outdoor elopement. There are some chilly days in March, but overall, it’s not too bad, either! Tips to Plan Your Austin Elopement

Legal Requirements

Obtain a Marriage License: You need to get this from any county clerk's office in Texas. Bring valid IDs, and don’t forget the fee!

Wait for 72 hours: After the license is issued, there is a 72-hour waiting period until you can officially elope.

Find an Officiant and Witnesses: You don’t need witnesses to elope in Austin, however, you do need to find an officiant who is licensed to perform the ceremony. It can be a judge, an officiant, or a friend who has been ordained. Your officiant will also have to sign the marriage licence to make everything official!

The Step by Step

Set a Date: Choose the date for your Austin elopement, but definitely keep in mind the weather when making the decision!

Choose Your Spot: Once you know the date, you can inquire for the availability of your chosen location (if it’s relevant!).

Hire a Local Photographer: Ahem! Yours truly would be thrilled to capture your unique love story amidst Austin’s beauty!

Create Your Austin Elopement Timeline: This is something I help my clients with, but in short - you definitely want to plan your elopement day! When is your ceremony? Will you have someone do your elopement day glam? Do you want to have a celebration? And, of course, we want to have plenty of time for photos!

Consider Your Guests: If you’re planning to share your big day with some of your closest loved ones, make sure to send them an invitation once you know all the logistics!
